The Member of Parliament for Techiman south constituency Hon. Martin Agyei-Mensah Korsah on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 commissioned a multi-purpose ICT Library at Techiman Ameyaw cluster of schools in the Bono East region.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Member of Parliament Hon. Martin Agyei-Mensah Korsah said it is his ambition and aim to uplift education in the Municipality.
Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah who is an old student of the Ameyaw M/A noted the essence of ICT in modern day education.
“We cannot overrule the critical role ICT education plays in the socioeconomic development of the citizens of every country which affects positively the human capital and general economic fortunes of the nation.”
He noted that ICT education is currently influencing every aspect of the human life. It is playing salient role in our work places, businesses, education, and entertainment as well. I dare to remark that, ICT education serves as a catalyst for change; that is change in working conditions, handling and exchanging information, teaching methods, learning approaches, scientific research, and in accessing information communication technologies.
“In this digital age, ICT use in the classroom is important for giving students opportunities to learn and apply the required 21st century skills.”
Hon. Korsah presented 40 set of brand new computers, chairs and tables to compliment the facility.
“For our children to have the viable urge and a place in today’s fiercely competitive job and business market, they must be exposed to the best ICT education. These and many other reasons have been my sole motivating factor for establishing this centre dedicated to the teaming youth and students from the cluster of schools in the Techiman Municipality.”
He further urged all stakeholders in whose hands this centre will be after I have officially handed over especially the Municipal Chief Executive and the Education Directorate and PTA to take a keen interest in the maintenance of this facility so as to prolong it’s lifespan which will eventually see to it that many more generations would benefit from this project.
Headmaster for Ameyaw Junior High School (JHS) Mr. Edward Fosu Nsowaah noted that management and the entire school and the community is excited to be a part of this historic event.
He further used the opportunity to outline some challenges facing the school thereby calling on the Hon. Member of parliament and Nananom and other philanthropists to help the school with those challenges.
