The District Education Director for Techiman North in the Bono East Region, Madam Theresa Kpebu, has called on parents in the district to support Girl Child Education.
Madam Kpebu made this appeal to parents on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 when speaking on the essence of girl child education at a ceremony to unveil a monument at the Tuobodom Senior High Technical School in Techiman.
According to her, any girl child who skips education in her upbringing becomes burden to family, the husband and the country at large hence the need to reduce such burden on the country by sending them to school to ensure their future well-being.
She however emphasized on the equality and empowerment of the girl child thereby calling on parents to provide the necessary support for their child’s education.
She urged parents not to abandon them when they fall into obstacles that can derail their future; but rather support and encourage them.
She further used the opportunity to appeal to employers to have equal balance of gender when employing for their businesses or organizations.
Headmaster of Tuobodom Senior High Technical School, Mr. Charles Agyapong used the opportunity to appreciate the immense efforts and contributions by some old students to see to the erection of the monument.
On his part, the District Chief Executive for Techiman North, Hon. Peter Mensah lauded the school authority for uniting leaders of the two main political parties at the area with such program.
He added that, the President of the republic has created enough educational opportunities for every child with the Free SHS, therefore urged every child to take advantage of it.
