The newly appointment Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Kwasi Adu Gyan is urging Assemblies especially the Techiman Municipal Assembly to explore avenues for the creation of employment for its people especially among the youth.
Addressing Departmental Heads of the Techiman Municipal Assembly during a working tour on Friday, 09 April 2021, Hon. Adu Gyan noted that, all assemblies have a comparative advantage in achieving this more specifically through the agricultural sector.
“The sector has the capacity to generate employment that can provide surplus food and agricultural raw materials for industry and export. As an assembly, work towards a diversified and commercially oriented agricultural sector with strong linkages to industry and market to generate employment and address rural poverty in the region.”
He reiterated the importance of the government’s flagship programme; “The One District, One Factory.”
“The 1D 1F programme offers you (Assembly) the opportunity to grow your local economy.”
“Together, let’s work hard to woo investors to the Municipality, to support the 1D 1F initiative, to propel the industrialization agenda of government as well as drive linkages to agriculture and other natural resources in the region,” he said.
During his working visit to the Techiman Traditional Council, Omanhene for the Traditional Council, Oseadeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV advised the new Bono East Regional Minister to continue with the good works of his predecessor.
According to Akumfi Ameyaw IV, “Your predecessor started doing lots of good works. Those that you can continue with, don’t let it just go waste, continue with it and the praise will go for you both and the government.”
He however, appealed to government to amend the office tenure of all Regional Ministers.
“I have noticed that the four year tenure for the Regional Ministers is not enough, looking at what is always expected of them. If it’s possible for government to review and do something about their tenure, i believe that will be in the best interest of all parties.”
