The Bono East Regional Immigration Office has impounded a bus with Burkinabe’s suspected to be traveling through Techiman to Kumasi for greener pastures.
According to the Regional Immigration Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Immigration [ACI] Enoch Abrokwa Annor, the Burkinabe nationals numbering about 38 were arrested by the Immigration Officers at the Tanoboase barrier in the Techiman North District.
He said the directive by the president on the closure of all land boarders in the country is in full force therefore they will not leave their post for other nationals to troop into the country.
ACI Annor stressed that the manner in which the persons portrayed themselves.
” We suspected them of human trafficking hence the decision to deport them to the country.”
He disclosed this in an exclusive interview with Radio Link News.
He added that the Immigration Office in the Bono East Region is liaising with their counterparts in Bawku in the Upper East Region in the deportation of the foreigners back to Burkina Faso.
He used the avenue and appealed to the public to be wary of the people they receive into their community and also report foreigners who visit their communities without proper documentation to the immigration service for further and proper actions to be taken against them.
