Techiman North and South NPP launch campaign on same day
Leadership of Techiman North and South Constituency of the Bono East Region both launched their campaigns ahead of the 2020 general elections on Sunday, September 13.
Both Constituencies (NPP) were at their best canvassing for votes.
Jama Temponim, was the venue for the Techiman North, with scores of party faithful across the district and region thronging the township to support the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) and Deputy Regional Minister, Hon. Martin Oti Gyarko.
Several party bigwigs including the party’s Regional Secretary David Boakye, , incumbent Member of Parliament for Techiman South, Hon. Yiadom Boakye, Former Minister of State, Prof. Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi, District Chief Executive for Techiman North, Hon. Peter Mensah and others were all present to support the event.
District Chief Executive for Techiman North Hon. Peter Mensah cautioned the supporters to avoid voting ‘skirt and blouse’ and vote for both the President and the incumbent MP.
He added that the NPP is not a divisive party and so the NPP sees all Ghanaians equal irrespective of one’s ethnic and religious affiliation. He charged party faithful not to be complacent since the battle is yet to begin. “The best way to win the hearts of every electorate is politics or campaign devoid of insults.”
He advised party faithful available at the launch to campaign with the policies and projects done in the district and region at large through the Member of Parliament and himself.
Hon. Martin Oti Gyarko on his part also touted his achievements within the past three to four years and called on electorates to renew his mandate in order to continue the good work he has started. He therefore called on all party supporters to join the campaign as they did in the 2016 elections. “Let’s renew and beef up our campaign strategies as the tasked ahead is mightier than what is behind.”
Techiman South on the other hand, had their campaign launched at the Regional Capital, Techiman. The program received a huge attendance with the Community Town Centre filled to capacity.
Former Minister of Education under the John Kuffour administration Prof. Akumfi Ameyaw; former Nkoranza North MP, Kwame Ampofo Twumasi; NPP Regional Chairman, Thomas Adu Appiah, Regional big-wigs and party faithful were also present to support the Deputy Minister for Regional Reorganisation and Development, Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah who is contesting for the first time.
Prof. Akumfi Ameyaw stated that he is confident Mr Adjei-Mensah Korsah will comfortable take over the baton from his predecessor Hon. Henry Boakye Yiadom but urged party faithful to be strong and vigilant during the December polls.
Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah called for an all-inclusiveness in the campaign. “We all gathered here are a part of the Techiman south campaign team, let’s all not relent on our efforts in canvasing for votes in the 2020 elections.”
He cautioned against the use of ill-words or tribal comments during their campaign.
