The Techiman Traditional Council has given the Kriontihemaa of the traditional area, Nana Amoafowaa Agyeiwaa a 14-day ultimatum to retract her comment made over restricting the Municipal Assembly from constructing a modern market at Dwomo.
According to a statement from the Traditional Council, effective September 1, Nana Amoafoa Agyeiwaa has been suspended as the Krontihemaa of the Techiman Tradition Council.
‘The Krontihemaa is to apologize to the Municipal Assembly as well as the Traditional rulers for her unwarranted action. The retraction is to be made on four radio stations in the municipality as a form of showing remorse,’ this was disclosed by the Registrar for the Traditional Council, Evans Eghan in a Radio Link interview.
Mr. Eghan noted that the Traditional Council is the overlord of the land therefore, ‘she can’t claim ownership of it.’
He however, stressed that Nana Amoafoa Agyeiwaa should not parade herself as a queen until her retraction and apology is made.
The Krontihemaa of Techiman, Nana Amoafoa Agyeiwaa in a press conference last month opposed to the construction of a modern Nana Abena market by the Municipal Assembly. She described as ‘non-proper negotiation’ over the construction by the assembly with her as the custodian of the said land used for the construction. She describing the approach used by the assembly as wrong and ‘Kalabuely.’
Stressing that until proper paper documentation is done, she won’t permit the assembly to eject the traders from the market not to talk of starting the construction of the modern market.
