Residents of Sonkone, a farming community in the Techiman Municipality are pleading, praying and hoping that the government’s year of roads policy will get to them.
The community, which is about 6-7kilometers from Nkwaeso can only be reached by a deplorable road which residents have been grappling with for years.
Currently, the journey to the community can only be made with a motorbike or motor-king which commuters are charged average 40GH before they get to their destination.
The state of the road, is affecting the lives of the people as they have been cut-off from essential services including healthcare and better market price for their farm produce.
Pastor Emmanuel Takyi of the House of Salvation Church who has been spreading the gospel in the area for years, laments that the nature of the roads requires urgent government intervention. According to him, huge volumes of farm produce are sometimes made to rot because of the nature of the road.
